During the spring of 2013, I took an experimental drawing class with Virginia Bradley, and created this pastel drawing under her instruction. The portrait of the goddess is drawn onto arches fine art paper, and then mounted onto a birch panel. My favorite part of the painting was when I peeled off the tape that I bordered the paper off, it revealed the pure white paper color against the pastel. These white borders became an activation point that I continued to emphasize by creating the dreamlike atmosphere around the Guan Yin statue.
