Printmaking

Inspired by the Buddha, in a printmaking class I created a 3 layer wood block print.  The buddha design was first drawn, then transferred onto wood, carved, and then printed with a press.  I tried using different color combinations that emphasized the design element of negative and positive space.  I also tried using mono printing to first give the background layer an abstract, textural pattern while the layer on top consisted of bold detailed lines.  I found that the white on dark prints came out the best.
